Giants Win Super Bowl XLVI

Heinz Muetmeier/SI
The Super Bowl literally went down to the final seconds with both the Giants and the Patriots fighting to the very end to be named the 2012 Super Bowl Champion.

The Giants jumped to an early start defensively putting pressure on Tom Brady while he was in the endzone causing him to receive an intentionally grounding flag that led to a safety and early 2 point lead by New York.  The Giants later jumped to an 9-0 lead in the 1st quarter holding Brady and company to a scoreless 1st quarter.  In the 2nd quarter the Patriots defense returned the favor to the Giants holding them to a scoreless 2nd quarter while Brady went to work.  Tom Brady ended the 1st half with a perfect 10/10 98 yards drive putting the Patriots up 10-9 going into the 2nd half.

Coming back from halftime the Patriots received the ball and Brady marched the Patriots down the field for his 2nd consecutive drive down the filed for another scoring putting the Patriots up 17-9.  The Patriots' defense did a great job of holding the Giants to only 2 field goals in the 3rd quarter leaving the Giants down 17-15 going into the 4th quarter.  In the 4th the Patriots had to critical incomplete passes for a 1st down that could have sealed the victory for New England, instead the Patriots had to punt the ball away giving Eli another chance at gaining the lead.  The Patriots defense was unable to contain the Giants on a huge 1st down catch which eventually led the Giants into the endzone by a carry by Bradshaw to put the Giants up 21-17 after the fail 2-point conversion attempt.  After the Giants scored the Patriots and Brady had :57 seconds to work magic and with a final attempt of a hail mary into the endzone in the final second Hernandez was unable to hold on to the ball while fighting several Giants defenders for the ball.

After the game everyone wasn't happy about the Giants victory.  Tom Brady's wife Gisele was caught on tape saying, "You need to catch the ball when you're supposed to catch the ball.  My husband cannot *bleep* throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time."

Manning ended the game with 30/40 completed passes for 296 passing yards and 1 touchdown, while Nicks led the Giants with 10 receptions for 109 receiving yards and Bradshaw had 17 carries for 72 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.

Brady ended the game with 27/41 completed passes for 276 passing yards for 2 touchdowns and 1 interception, while Green-Ellis had 10 carries for 44 rushing yards and Hernandez had 8 receptions for 67 passing yards and 1 touchdown.

Congrats to the New York Giants on their Super Bowl victory as well as Eli Manning for being named the Super Bowl MVP.  Don't know about you all but I'm ready for football over again even though it just ended lol.
