Ray Lewis Accused of Using PED

(Photo: Nick Wass, AP)
Just days before Ray Lewis is scheduled to play in what may be his final game in the NFL, stories have started to surface that Lewis may have used Deer Antler Spray in the past, which contains a substance that is on the NFL's banned substance list.  The substance is a performer-enhancer that is connected to a human growth hormone.  When doing the usual Super Bowl media, the questions began to surface of whether or not Lewis had taken performance enhancement drugs, and Lewis shrugged it off in a way only Ray Lewis can.  Lewis never denied or confirmed the use of deer antler spray but he did state that this was a two year old story that he cared not to revisit.
"The team knew about this report.  Ray denies taking anything and has always passed tests." -Kevin Byrne, Baltimore Ravens spokesperson
I don't know what to believe let's just hope that this doesn't turn out like the Lance Armstrong situation and we find Ray Lewis sitting on Oprah's couch next year admitting to using Performance-Enhancing Drugs.

Rondo Out Indefinitely

ERIK S. LESSER/EPA

Rajon Rondo missed Sunday's game against the Miami Heat after hyper extending his right knee Friday night against the Atlanta Hawks. Rondo is now listed as day to day after undergoing a MRI yesterday. Coach Doc Rivers is now experimenting with the starting line up after the Celtics loss six games in a row stating the following:

"We're going to start Jared, more just because Jared'a playing well. Honestly I don't love it because I worry about our bench. Our bench has been off the chats and that may affect them. But we're doing it because he's playing so well. I just thought the starters needed to shake up the lineup, even though I really and doing it cautiously because I just think at some point our starters will find themselves."

UPDATE: After undergoing a MRI, it has been determined that Rondo has a torn ACL and will be out the remainder of the season.

Te'o Sits Down With Couric

Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images
In Manti Te'o news, it seems that this guy is definitely not the smartest guy on Notre Dame campus.  Te'o recently sat down with Katie Couric to give his side of the story about what happened with his invisible girlfriend that died then came back to life, if that's how you want to put it.  One of the questions that was asked was is Te'o gay and he replied definitely not, but recently the voice of the "girl" that Te'o spent hours on hours talking on the phone to has been revealed and the woman he was talking to was a man disguising his voice as a woman.  Now I don't know about you but it definitely sounded like a man.  But maybe Te'o was just in denial and thought that "she" just had a really deep voice.

Kaepernicking

Well if this isn't a case of Tebow all over again, only difference is Colin Kaepernick is a descent quarterback.  So Colin Kaepernick has decided that kissing your bicep should now be called kaepernicking although I'm pretty sure that Colin Kaepernick is not the first person that has kissed their bicep.  Well Colin Kaepernick filed an application January 14th to have kaepernicking trademarked in which he will use the image on t-shirts and other items to sell.

Hornets to Change Name to Pelicans

The New Orleans Hornets announced Thursday that they will be going ahead with the name change to the New Orleans Pelicans.  The change has to be approved by the NBA although commissioner David Stern has stated before that he would not object to any name change Tom Benson, owner of the New Orleans Hornets and Saints, chose for the team.  The Hornets will also change to team colors to blue, gold and red.

Falcons' Fan Stabbed After Game

Well, well, well Falcons fans are known to get a little rowdy and this time it backfired.  A Falcons fan was stabbed in the neck after punching a 49ers fan during an altercation after the 49ers defeated the Falcons 24-24.  The incident was said to have occurred around 6:40 pm yesterday and the Falcons fan was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where it is reported he is currently in stable condition.

Gonzalez Set To Retire

(AP Photo/David Goldman)
I would be lying if I was to say if Tony Gonzalez doesn't come back next year I wouldn't be heartbroken.  Gonzalez has stated all season that he was 95% sure that this would be his last season in the NFL and last night he reiterated this fact.
"It's probably the last time I'm going to wear that uniform.  I didn't want to take it off, to tell you the truth.  All good things come to an end and , like I said all season long, this is probably my last one.  What an unbelievable ride." -Tony Gonzalez after the 28-24 Falcon loss to the 49ers.
The 36 year old Tight End had 72 yards in last night's game and has had 1,242 receptions, 14,268 receiving yards, and 103 receiving touchdowns throughout his 16 year career.  Gonzalez is definitely one of the best to play the tight end position and is without a doubt a hall of famer.

Kings being moved to Seattle?

The owners of the Sacramento Kings, the Maloof family, reached an agreement with a Seattle group to sell its controlling interest of the Kings.  The Seattle group has the intention of moving the Kings to Seattle in time for next season.  NBA teams were informed Sunday night that the Kings were valued at $525 million, which included the value of the team as well as the relocation fees, and that a purchase and sale agreement had been executed by the Maloofs and a group led by hedge fund manager Chris Hansen.
"The proposed transaction is subject to the approval of the NBA Board of Governors and has been referred to the Board's committee process for review." -The NBA announced Monday

Te'o "Victim" of Online Hoax

Photo: http://cbssports.tumblr.com/
Social networks were in an uproar with jokes last night when it came out that the story of Manti Te'o girlfriend was all a lie.

If you don't know the story Manti Te'o of Notre Dame stated back in September that he had lost his grandmother September 12th and only six hours later he lost his girlfriend Lennay Kekua to leukemia. He says that the death of Kekua inspired him to play better. Well the death of Kekua turned out to be a hoax.

Notre Dame released a newsletter Wednesday stating that they couldn't even find any indication that Lennay Kekua existing. In the news conference Wednesday night Athletic Director Jack Swarbick stated the following:

"On the morning of December 26, very early in the morning, Manti called his coaches to inform them that while he was in attendance at the ESPN award show in Orlando, he received a phone call from a number he recognized as having been that he associates with Lennay Kekua. When he answered it, it was a person whose voice sounded like the same person he had talked to, who told him that she was, in fact not dead. Manti was very unnerved by that, as you might imagine."

Notre Dame hired an investigative firm to investigate the situation and they believe that Te'o was fooled into an online relationship with a woman whose death was then faked by the perpetrators of the hoax.

Like my grandmother would say something in the milk ain't clean. Had Te'o ever met this woman? If not, had he tried? And how do you determine that somebody you've never met us your significant other? I don't know all the details but there are so many unanswered questions that doesn't add up.
